Unveiling the Mysteries: An Exclusive Interview with Author Leia Stone

What is your favorite writing and reading genre?

Paranormal romance for sure! I love shifters!

Where did you get your idea for your books? (Especially for the Hive trilogy, I’m a fan, super curious)

Where do any of these idea come from? I have no idea. Sometimes I’ll be watching TV and something small, like a vial of blood will jog something in me. Blood makes me think about vampires, and I love hybrids so I started thinking what if vampires and humans had offspring. The Ash were born and then I brought the idea to Jaymin and she was the one who thought that Charlie should be the only female Ash.

If a movie or TV show would be created for your books, which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead roles for you books?

Well since my Matefinder series is optioned for film I have totally thought of this! Jason Momoa for Kai and Margot Robbie for Aurora. For Charlie I would definitely say Octavia from The 100 TV show (Marie Avgeropoulos)

When did you decide to become a writer?

I think I was born a writer. I have always written poems or stories as a child but it was at age 19 that I decided to do it professionally. (Failed miserably back then. Took ten years to “make it”)

How did you get your book published? How long did it take for you to get it published?

I am an indie writer so I self-publish all my books. There is so much freedom there. When it’s back from the editor and I decide it’s ready then it’s published. I don’t have a boss and it’s liberating.

Do you ever get writer’s Block? If so, which book did you get the worst while writing?

Never! Knock on wood.

What is the average time for you to write a book?

3-4 months.

For your own reading, do you prefer kindle or paperback books?

Ohh that’s hard. I’m 90% kindle just because if I don’t I will become a book hoarder and won’t be able to walk in my house. I have read thousands of books.

How are the covers made for your books?

I get an idea and tell my graphic designer about that idea and they come up with something better than I even thought of. Right now Jaymin and I are writing a new series (Queen Heir, NYC Mecca series) and that cover is illustrated. It’s going to be amazing and beautiful. Can’t wait to share it with everyone.

What advice would you give writer wannabes and future/young authors?

NEVER give up. I’ve been denied by big time New York agents over 100 times in my career and now I’m writing full time making more money than I could have ever dreamed of. I made the USA today bestseller list and I have a movie option. If I had given up after my first book flopped or after a few bad one star reviews I wouldn’t be where I am. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. You can.
